Athens moved up to 146 from 255 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Northern Tier 1. The Wildcats climbed the ranks as a result of topping Port Allegany 30-14.
Wyalusing Valley lost to Wellsboro 49-8 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Athens' dynamic duo of Troy Stivason and Adam Hunsinger proved tough for the Gators to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Stivason threw for 107 yards and Hunsinger had 50 yards receiving. Cody Cain helped Athens' passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 36 yards.

Hunsinger was the best receiver in the league this week as the Wildcats defeated the Gators.
Jed Wright provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Troy beat Jersey Shore.
Wright was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 168 yards as the Trojans defeated Port Allegany. Teammate Brandon Mattocks added to the ground attack by rushing for 63 yards.
The Wildcats' Stivason and Hunsinger have formed a dream team this season, leading Northern Tier 1 in both passing and receiving yards. Stivason has thrown for 107 yards this season, while Hunsinger, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 3 catches for 50 yards. Wright from Troy leads the league in rushing with 168 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Wellsboro takes on second place Troy.
The Trojans' offense has scored 35 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Hornets have allowed only 8 on the year.
Wellsboro led the league in scoring this week after putting up 49 points on the Rams.
