Sage Ridge is 0-5 against Mineral County since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. Having just played yesterday, the Sage Ridge Scorpions will head out on the road to face off against the Mineral County Serpents at 5:30 p.m. on February 10th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Sage Ridge came into Friday's game having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They took their matchup at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 60-25 win over Whittell. The win was just what Sage Ridge needed coming off of a 60-32 defeat in their prior game.
Meanwhile, Mineral County put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 73-53 margin over Coleville. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Mineral County just coasted through the last quarter.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mineral County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Andrew Stinson, who scored eight points along with ten assists and eight steals. It was the first time this season that Stinson posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was DeVayne Isom, who scored 15 points along with four steals.
Sage Ridge's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-17. Mineral County's record now sits at 15-11.
Sage Ridge was dealt a bruising 79-45 defeat at the hands of Mineral County in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Isom, who scored 24 points along with eight steals and seven assists. Now that Sage Ridge knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
