The Locust Fork Hornets typically have all the answers at home, but on Tuesday the Cold Springs Eagles proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Hornets by a score of 58-45. Winning may never get old, but Cold Springs sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Cold Springs was led to victory by Ella Bruer and Ella Dickerson. Bruer scored 12 points, while Dickerson scored 22 points. Another player making a difference was Malaya Taylor, who scored seven points.
Locust Fork lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Faith Evans, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Hope Evans was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals.
Locust Fork struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Cold Springs pushed their record up to 18-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Locust Fork, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cold Springs will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Southeastern at 5:15 p.m. on January 11th. Southeastern will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 261st, while Cold Springs is ranked 21st). As for Locust Fork, they will head out on the road to take on Cleveland at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cleveland is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
