Lake Ridge Academy is on a four-game streak of home losses, Oberlin a seven-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Having just played yesterday, the Lake Ridge Academy Royals will get right back to it and host the Oberlin The Phoenix at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Lake Ridge Academy suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Monday. They were beaten by Medina Christian Academy 70-37.
Meanwhile, Oberlin pushed their score all the way to 55 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 70-55 fall against Black River.
Despite the defeat, Oberlin got a solid performance out of Isaiah Jones-Smith, who scored 16 points. That's the first time this season that Jones-Smith scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Korrie Freeman, who scored 11 points.
Lake Ridge Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Oberlin, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-10.
Lake Ridge Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Oberlin when the teams last played back in January of 2023, winning 62-55. Does Lake Ridge Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Oberlin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
