The Capistrano Valley Cougars lost against the San Clemente Tritons back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Capistrano Valley took a 35-18 bruising from San Clemente. It was the first time this season that Capistrano Valley let down their fans at home.
Despite the loss, Capistrano Valley still got an impressive performance from Cash Moormann, who rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown.
San Clemente got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Aiden Rubin out in front who rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Rubin hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Dylan Mills, who threw for 194 yards and two touchdowns while completing 84.2% of his passes.
Capistrano Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for San Clemente, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 9-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Capistrano Valley will take on Mission Viejo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mission Viejo presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Capistrano Valley in California (Mission Viejo is ranked 18th, while Capistrano Valley is ranked 90th). As for San Clemente, they will be playing at home against Tesoro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
