The Concord Christian Academy Minutemen came tearing into Thursday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 55-41 win over Calvary Christian Academy. This was payback for Concord Christian Academy, who suffered a 60-57 loss the last time these two teams met.
Concord Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Carlin Hollis - Homeschool, who scored 19 points along with seven steals and two blocks. That makes it four consecutive games in which Hollis - Homeschool has scored at least a third of Concord Christian Academy's points. Keavon Bailey - Homeschool was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with ten rebounds and six blocks.
Kyle Parks and JR Gillespie (HS) certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Parks scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and three steals, while Gillespie (HS) scored ten points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Parks grabbed two or more steals.
Concord Christian Academy's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. As for Calvary Christian Academy, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Concord Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Faith Baptist School at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Faith Baptist School has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 175 points over their last three matchups. As for Calvary Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Greenwood Mennonite at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Greenwood Mennonite focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday.
