There's no place like home for the Mendon Unity Mustangs, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They blew past West Prairie 68-41 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Mendon Unity has posted since December 2, 2023.
Despite the loss, West Prairie saw an underclassman step up: Braden Coplan scored 19 points. That was a full 46.3% of West Prairie's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Mendon Unity's victory bumped their record up to 11-9. As for West Prairie, their defeat was their 21st straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-17.
Mendon Unity won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Rushville-Industry at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th. Rushville-Industry has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for West Prairie, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Peoria Heights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
