The Cypress Woods Wildcats were the 27-10 winner over the Bridgeland Bears when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Cypress Woods received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 31-14 to Bridgeland. While losing is never fun, Cypress Woods can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while Bridgeland is ranked 98th).
Despite the defeat, Cypress Woods saw an underclassman step up: Wayne Shanks jr gained 106 total yards and a touchdown.
Bridgeland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jett Lewis led the charge by throwing for 177 yards and a touchdown. Bridgeland also got a significant boost from Noah Allen Cuellar, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 94 yards.
Cypress Woods' defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Bridgeland, the victory was the fifth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cypress Woods will take on Cypress Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cypress Springs will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. As for Bridgeland, they will head out on the road to face off against Cypress Lakes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
