Softball Recap: Stagg Gets the Win

Stagg's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Blue Island Eisenhower Cardinals. The victory continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won three in a row.

Grace DeYoung spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Stagg's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tessa Mitchell, who went 2-for-3 with two runs. Those two runs gave Mitchell a new career-high. Veronica Vogwill also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Stagg's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Blue Island Eisenhower, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Coming up, Stagg will head out on the road to face off against Tinley Park at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Blue Island Eisenhower, they will welcome Phillips at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
