St. David's put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past GRACE Christian 56-19 on the road. Given St. David's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while GRACE Christian is ranked 297th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
St. David's got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Eliza Everett out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. Everett has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kate Benson, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Cary Christian ended up a good deal behind Trinity Academy on Friday and lost 35-21. Cary Christian has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
St. David's has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Cary Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.
Everything went St. David's way against Cary Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as St. David's made off with a 42-16 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. David's since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
