Basketball Game Preview: John Carroll Catholic Rams vs. Jupiter Christian Eagles

The John Carroll Catholic Rams and the Jupiter Christian Eagles, after both having extra time off, will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

John Carroll Catholic had taken Sebastian River down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end last Friday. The Rams fell 56-44 to the Sharks. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Rei Toussaint, who went 8-for-19 on his way to 21 points and three steals. He is becoming a predictor of John Carroll Catholic's success: when he posts at least 20 points the team is 3-1 (and 1-5 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Jackson, who posted 13 points.

One of the most notable was Robert Sawicki, who shot 50% from the field en route to 19 points and eight rebounds. The matchup was his eighth in a row with at least 17 points. Derek Vasquez was another key player, going 5-for-7 to rack up 17 points.

John Carroll Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Jupiter Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: John Carroll Catholic has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Jupiter Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 36.1 rebounds.
