Fairfield Central is 0-10 against Chester since March of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Griffins will look to defend their home field against the Cyclones at 7:00 p.m. Fairfield Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 16 runs per game this season.
Two weeks ago, Fairfield Central got the win against Eau Claire by a conclusive 23-3. The Griffins haven't had any issues with the Shamrocks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Layla McMillan made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. McMillan was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March of 2025.
In other batting news, Zariah Anderson and Alexis Montgomery did most of the damage at the plate: Anderson went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs, while Montgomery got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. The dominant performance also gave Anderson a new career-high in RBI (two). Amyrcle Brown was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases.
Fairfield Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .765. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Chester came up short against Fort Mill on Monday and fell 10-6. The Cyclones have struggled against the Yellow Jackets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Fairfield Central now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Chester, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Fairfield Central might still be hurting after the 24-0 loss they got from Chester when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Can the Griffins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
