The Barnwell Warhorses had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 37-24 win over Edisto on Wednesday. For Barnwell, this counts as revenge for the 48-38 defeat Edisto walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Jayden Pickney was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Kristopher Bennett , who scored five points.
Barnwell's victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-5. As for Edisto, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Barnwell won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Silver Bluff at 8:00 p.m. on January 11th. Hopefully Silver Bluff focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Monday. As for Edisto, they will head out on the road to face off against Hampton County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hampton County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Edisto in South Carolina (Hampton County is ranked 62nd, while Edisto is ranked 225th).
