If the Linden-McKinley Panthers were feeling good off their 54-29 takedown of the East Tigers back in December of 2023, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Linden-McKinley had to suffer through a rough 70-27 loss at the hands of Centennial. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Linden-McKinley in their matchups with Centennial: they've now lost four in a row.
Centennial's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aza Corbett led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 18 rebounds. Corbett is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy Houston, who scored 18 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Linden-McKinley has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for Centennial, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Linden-McKinley will square off against Northland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Centennial won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Hilliard Davidson at 2:00 p.m. on January 6th. Hilliard Davidson is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
