The Thatcher Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Valley Christian Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Thatcher put up the most runs they have all season on Thursday. Everything went their way against Amphitheater as they made off with a 21-2 win. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Jett Howard and Kody Bingham were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Howard pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Bingham tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Howard has become a key player for Thatcher: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one hit, but 3-8 otherwise. At the plate, Howard scored a run while going 1-for-2, while Bingham got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave Bingham a new career-high.
In other batting news, Thatcher let Jax Shupe and Dee Allen run wild. Shupe scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while Allen scored a run while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Shupe a new career-high in RBI (two). Brig Romney also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Thatcher always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Valley Christian entered their tilt with Florence on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Gophers with a sharp 16-6 win. Considering the Trojans have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Ty Pasisich looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jaxen Maxey was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Grier, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.
Valley Christian's record is now 15-2. As for Thatcher, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 6-8.
Thatcher suffered a grim 11-4 defeat to Valley Christian when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
