Mohawk gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener  on Tuesday. They came out on top against the New Riegel Blue Jackets by a score of  5-2. This was payback for the Warriors, who suffered  a  3-1  loss the last time these two teams met.
 Aubrey Gottfried was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out 13 batters over  seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off   one  hit. Gottfried was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-3 with one  home run and two  RBI.
 Gottfried wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Trenna Johnson, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 1-for-3. That's the most  runs  Johnson has posted since back in April of 2024.
 Coming up, Mohawk is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will  take on  Columbian  at 4:45  p.m.  on Wednesday. As for New Riegel, they will challenge Clyde at 5:00  p.m.  on Wednesday.
