The Geneva Classical Academy Knights have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 45-31 bruising from Lakeland Christian on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Geneva Classical Academy in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now lost four in a row.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Michaela Garas, who scored eight points along with 14 rebounds and three steals. Garas is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. Giselle Katzmann was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four blocks and two steals.
Lakeland Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Issa Simpson out in front who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiya Boyce, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and six steals.
Geneva Classical Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Lakeland Christian, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.
Geneva Classical Academy and the Lions will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Oasis Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday. As for Lakeland Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge the Storm at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
