The Valor Preparatory Academy Owls will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sugar Creek Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Valor Preparatory Academy beat Lake Norman Christian 70-62. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Valor Preparatory Academy.
Bishop Witherspoon and Johnathan Lee were among the main playmakers for Valor Preparatory Academy as the former scored 18 points and the latter scored 20 points. Witherspoon is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Tyler Kerr was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Even though Sugar Creek has not done well against Queen's Grant recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way last Friday. Sugar Creek came out on top against Queen's Grant by a score of 62-51. Winning is a bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 20% better than the opposition, as Sugar Creek's was.
Sugar Creek's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Aidan Gatewood, who scored 16 points along with three steals, and Terry Watson, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Watson also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah McCrey, who scored two points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Valor Preparatory Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Sugar Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Valor Preparatory Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 64.1 points per game. It's a different story for Sugar Creek, though, as they've been averaging only 55 points per game. The only thing between Valor Preparatory Academy and another offensive beatdown is Sugar Creek. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Valor Preparatory Academy came up short against Sugar Creek in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 71-66. Can Valor Preparatory Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
