Grossmont and Helix are an even 5-5 against one another since June of 2021, but likely not for long. The Foothillers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Highlanders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Grossmont managed to slip by El Capitan the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Foothillers lost 16-7 to the Vaqueros on Wednesday.

Tyler Holmes made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Grossmont is 2-1 when Holmes posts one or more home runs, but 7-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Struck, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Helix's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Valhalla by a score of 3-1.
Helix also got a good showing from Matt Martinez, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Martinez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Helix saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Antoin Simpson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.
Grossmont's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Helix, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Grossmont hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Helix struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Grossmont suffered a grim 10-4 defeat to Helix in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Foothillers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
