The Horizon Huskies will challenge the Canyon View Jaguars at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Horizon is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 15-4 margin over Arcadia on Saturday. The Huskies haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Rio Ryu looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Charlie Lawson was a standout: he scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Tomey, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Horizon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arcadia only posted an OBP of .360.
Meanwhile, Canyon View made easy work of Sunrise Mountain on Saturday and carried off a 13-3 win. Considering the Jaguars have won three contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Rolando Valles was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Ricardo Yuriar was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
The victory made it two in a row for Canyon View and bumps their season record up to 3-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8 runs. As for Horizon, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Horizon's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. Horizon has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Canyon View, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Horizon continue to outrun the ball?
Horizon beat Canyon View 9-5 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Will Horizon repeat their success, or does Canyon View have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
