Softball Recap: Heide Trask Makes It Six in a Row on the Road

Heide Trask won the last time they faced West Columbus and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Heide Trask Titans put the hurt on the West Columbus Vikings with a sharp 21-1 win. Fans of the Titans have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Cheyenne Saunders made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Madison Peterson was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Another player making a difference was Shelby Groves, who scored three runs while going 2-for-5.

Heide Trask was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Heide Trask pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 16.3 runs. As for West Columbus, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Heide Trask will challenge Dixon at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dixon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season. As for West Columbus, they will square off against Lake View at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
