Springfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Madison Varando, who went 6 for 14 on her way to 18 points and six steals. That's the most points Varando has posted since back in December of 2023. Bay Ellis was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to ten rebounds and six assists.
Springfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Kit Carson duked it out withGranada on Friday. Kit Carson strolled past Granada with points to spare, taking the game 55-37. The Wildcats pushed the score to 47-23 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bobcats cut but never quite recovered from.
Kit Carson's win came from a few key players Springfield will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Shay Rady, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards. She has been hot, having also posted three or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Avery Johnson, who went 6 of 11 en route to 14 points and five steals.
Springfield pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Kit Carson, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Springfield has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.3 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Kit Carson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Springfield came up short against Kit Carson in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 39-34. Can Springfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
