Basketball Game Preview: Greene County Tech Golden Eagles vs. Paragould Rams

The Greene County Tech Golden Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Paragould Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Greene County Tech has seven straight wins, Paragould has 24 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, Greene County Tech blew past Buffalo Island Central, posting a 70-39 victory. The Golden Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Greene County Tech to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sophia Gonzalez, who went 9 for 15 on her way to 23 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Gonzalez a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacey Edrington, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 14 points and six rebounds.

Greene County Tech smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 16 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Paragould took a blow against Dumas two weeks ago, falling 56-18. The contest marked the Rams' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Greene County Tech's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Paragould, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

Greene County Tech strolled past Paragould when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a score of 58-40. Will Greene County Tech repeat their success, or does Paragould have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
