Basketball Recap: Beaufort Piles Up the Points Against Cross

Beaufort meant business on Monday, getting buckets from all over the court against a Stingrays squad that has allowed just 30 points per contest. The Beaufort Eagles really took it to the Cross Stingrays for the full four quarters, racking up a 69-41 win. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Beaufort to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jania Hayward, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine steals. Hayward is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaria Coaxum, who went 8 of 14 on her way to 21 points and four steals.

Beaufort smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in ten consecutive contests.

Several Stingrays players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sydney Hollings, who went 6 of 15 on her way to 17 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Beaufort's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Cross, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

Beaufort and Stall will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Stall has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Cross, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 57-39 win against Charleston Collegiate on the 17th.
