The LaFayette Bulldogs typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday the Valley Rams proved too difficult a challenge. They took down the Bulldogs 67-48. Given Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 109th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jay Harper, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and five assists. It was the first time this season that Harper scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Brandon Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Vaderrian Story and Branaviyun Story certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Story scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Story scored 14 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Thompson, who scored four points along with seven rebounds.
The victory (which was Valley's seventh in a row) raised their record to 15-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.7 points per game. As for LaFayette, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-6.
Valley will take on the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for LaFayette, they will head out on the road to face off against the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Wadley is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
