The Manchester Red Hawks proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 26) but on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Enfield 52-49. The win was nothing new for Manchester as they're now sitting on three straight.
Manchester's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tiara Tyson led the charge by scoring 14 points. Another player making a difference was Elise Ryan, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Enfield's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Sydney Marshall, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Kendall Coffey who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. Alyssa Hosig was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six assists and five rebounds.
She wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Enfield were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Manchester only racked up four assists.
Manchester's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Enfield, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Manchester will head out on the road to square off against Edwin O. Smith at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Edwin O. Smithpresents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Manchester in Connecticut (Edwin O. Smith is ranked 17th, while Manchester is ranked 62nd). As for Enfield, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on East Catholic at 6:45 p.m. on February 8th. Hopefully Enfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Monday.
