The Waldron Mohawks won the last time they faced the South Decatur Cougars, and things went their way on Friday too. Waldron skirted past South Decatur 57-54. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Waldron.
Waldron's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keith Settles led the charge by scoring 21 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Jones, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Waldron pushed their record up to 8-8 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for South Decatur, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.
Waldron will head out on the road to face off against Oldenburg Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Waldron focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday. As for South Decatur, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-59 loss vs. Seton Catholic on the 10th.
