It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Chapel Hill Bulldogs had no problem doing just that on Friday. They put the hurt on the Wolves with a sharp 56-33 win. The result was nothing new for Chapel Hill, who have now won nine games by 20 points or more so far this season.
Leading Chapel Hill to victory were Rickey Stewart and Demetrius Brisbon jr. Stewart rushed for 220 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry, while Brisbon jr rushed for 161 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Stewart has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last five times he's played.
When it comes to explaining why Davenport lost, one person who can't be blamed is Triston Hamlin. Despite the final result, he threw for 272 yards and four touchdowns. Hamlin hasn't dropped below three passing touchdowns for ten straight games. Kyler Payne was in the mix as well, providing Davenport with two touchdowns.
The win (which was Chapel Hill's fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-2. As for Davenport, their loss dropped their record down to 11-4.
Chapel Hill will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Anna at 11:00 a.m. on December 15th. Anna will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak. Davenport does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
