Even though the Jefferson Area Falcons scored an imposing 70 points on Friday, the Pymatuning Valley Lakers still came out on top. Pymatuning Valley escaped with a win against Jefferson Area by the margin of a single free throw, 71-70. The score was all tied up 36-36 at the break, but Pymatuning Valley was the better team in the second half.
Zane Neczeporenko was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 29 points along with 8 assists and 7 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Bryan, who scored 14 points.
Pymatuning Valley's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Jefferson Area, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pymatuning Valley will challenge Bristol at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jefferson Area, they will head out on the road to face off against Benedictine at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Benedictine focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Sunday.
