Basketball Game Preview: Kim/Branson Mustangs vs. Trinidad Miners

Kim/Branson is 5-0 against Trinidad since November of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Kim/Branson Mustangs just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Trinidad Miners at 2:00 p.m. Kim/Branson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56 points per game this season.

On Friday, Kim/Branson lost to Primero on the road by a 65-47 margin. The matchup marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Cameron Rosas, who posted 13 points along with seven boards and five steals. Rosas is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Kolter Cranson was another key player, putting up nine points.

Even though they lost, Kim/Branson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Trinidad). They blew past Centennial 63-40 back in December of 2024. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Miners.

Trinidad found their leader in sophomore Isaiah Moreno, who had 21 points. Those 21 points gave Moreno a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Andres Romero, who posted 12 points.

Kim/Branson's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Trinidad, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Everything came up roses for Kim/Branson against Trinidad when the teams last played back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 64-34 win. Does Kim/Branson have another victory up their sleeve, or will Trinidad turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
