The George Washington Patriots will square off against the Denver East Angels at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
George Washington will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Saturday, then bounced right back against Montbello on Tuesday. The Patriots blew past the Warriors 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

04/24/25 vs Hinkley | 1 |
04/01/25 @ Harrison | 1 |
03/18/25 vs Kennedy | 1 |
03/15/25 vs Skyview | 1 |
Henry Kuntner was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two stolen bases. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Wiederholt, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
George Washington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Denver East made sure to put some runs up on the board against Rangeview on Tuesday. The Angels put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 10-1 victory. The Angels haven't had any issues with the Raiders recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Jacob Wilkerson looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He is becoming a predictor of Denver East's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 4-2 (and 5-9 when he doesn't).
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Henry O'Rear, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. He has become a key player for Denver East: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 6-10 otherwise. Mason Manley was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Denver East's victory bumped their record up to 9-11. As for George Washington, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. George Washington has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Denver East struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
George Washington was able to grind out a solid victory over Denver East in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 5-1. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Angels turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
