Basketball Recap: Ridgeline Comes Up Short

Ridgeline has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 77-68 loss to the Syracuse Titans. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (56), the Riverhawks still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Ridgeline still got an impressive performance from Andrew Pinochi, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 boards. Pinochi is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Tyler Jackman, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Ridgeline smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Skyler Orton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Syracuse, going 11 of 20 on his way to 25 points and three steals. Orton's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bradlee Trejo, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 16 points and six assists.

Ridgeline's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Syracuse, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-5.

When Ridgeline and Syracuse next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Ridgeline will try to stop Green Canyon's 13-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Ridgeline is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.3 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Syracuse will try to stop Copper Hills' four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
