It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Mullen Broncos ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They snuck past Wallace with a 50-44 win. That's two games straight that Mullen has won by exactly six points.
Despite the loss, Wallace still got an impressive performance from Matt Lungrin, who scored 21 points. The matchup was Lungrin's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Masen Messersmith, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Mullen and bumps their season record up to 4-5. As for Wallace, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mullen will take on Arthur County at TBD on Thursday. As for Wallace, they will be playing in front of their home fans against South Platte at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully South Platte focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Saturday.
