Northside Christian is 2-8 against Shorecrest Prep since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Northside Christian Mustangs will host the Shorecrest Prep Chargers at 4:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Northside Christian managed to slip by Seffner Christian the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Northside Christian came up short against Seffner Christian on Friday, falling 15-5.
Northside Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Macy SMith, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Maiya Busch was another, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Shorecrest Prep's undefeated season came to an end after three games on Friday. They lost 20-11 to Lakeland Christian. The loss was the Chargers' first of the season.
Samantha Beltran put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and nine unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Madi Bidwell and Alexis Lavoie stepped up to the plate in a big way. Bidwell scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5, while Lavoie went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple. That stolen base marked the first that Bidwell snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Sonia Anderson, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Even though they lost, Shorecrest Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Northside Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Shorecrest Prep, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Northside Christian has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Shorecrest Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
