Even though The Centralia Orphans scored an imposing 34 points on Friday, the Effingham Flaming Hearts still came out on top. Effingham breezed by Centralia on the road to the tune of 61-34. With Effingham ahead 41-20 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Weldon Dunston continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 300 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry. Gaige Gillum was another key contributor, throwing for 216 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.
Effingham is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. As for Centralia, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Effingham will head out on the road to face off against Mt. Zion at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mt. Zion will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. Centralia does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
