The Montpelier Locomotives''s game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past Hilltop, posting a 56-0 victory at home. The result was nothing new for Montpelier, who have now won three games by 27 points or more so far this season.
Montpelier found their leader in underclassman Hayden Sharps, who rushed for 41 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 168 yards and a touchdown. Kam Smith got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Montpelier's win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Hilltop and 1-8 Vanlue (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 16.7% over those games). As for Hilltop, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
Montpelier will head out on the road to face off against Hopewell-Loudon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopewell-Loudon will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line. Hilltop does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
