Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ukiah). They secured a 54-49 W over the AIMS College Prep Golden Eagles on Friday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their nine-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Ukiah was led to victory by Kaleo Olson and Dareon Dorsey. Olson dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds, while Dorsey almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Andrew McNiel, who posted no points in addition to ten rebounds and six steals.
Ukiah smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matches.
Ukiah's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for AIMS College Prep, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
