The Wilson Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the South Florence Bruins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Wilson will be strutting in after a win while South Florence will be coming in after a loss.
Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Wilson beat North Myrtle Beach 49-43. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Wilson.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wilson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Leanissa Swinton, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Spears, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, South Florence ended up a good deal behind Hartsville on Tuesday and lost 49-34.
Despite the defeat, South Florence saw an underclassman step up: Madison Randolph scored 12 points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that Randolph pulled down eight or more rebounds. Amari Gamble was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds.
Wilson's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6. As for South Florence, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Wilson have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like South Florence struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Wilson didn't have too much breathing room in their game against South Florence when the teams last played on January 10th, but they still walked away with a 37-33 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wilson since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
