Two dominant guards in A'Lanah Webb and Brooke Zartman are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. After both having extra time off, the New Haven Bulldogs and the Warsaw Tigers will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 80-37, which was the final score in New Haven's tilt against Bellmont last Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 332nd, while the Braves are ranked 26th).
The losing side was boosted by Webb, who went 8 of 16 en route to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Goodrich, who went 5 of 7 on her way to 11 points.
Even though they lost, New Haven was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Warsaw put another one in the bag last Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 73-41 win over Wawasee. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 20 points or more this season.
New Haven better keep an eye on Joslyn Bricker. She was instrumental in Warsaw's win, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 12 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Winchester, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds.
Warsaw's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for New Haven, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: New Haven has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.1 boards per game. However, it's not like Warsaw struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.4 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
