Baseball Recap: Whitney Point Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

While Whitney Point's victory against Newark Valley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Cardinals 7-6. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Eagles as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

John Morris was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Whitney Point is 2-1 when Morris posts two or more runs, but 0-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Mathis, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.

Whitney Point's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Newark Valley, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Whitney Point will face off against Edison at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Newark Valley, they will take on Marathon at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
