Basketball Recap: Woodruff Skates Past High Point Academy with Ease

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Blue Ridge, Woodruff was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They blew past the High Point Academy Grizzlies, posting a 68-23 victory. The Wolverines have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 30 points or more this season.

Woodruff's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jensyn Turner, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Turner is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jordan Robinson, who went 7 of 16 en route to 21 points and six steals.

Woodruff smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests.

Several Grizzlies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ti'Jah Davis, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Davis a new career-high in points.

Woodruff's record now sits at 11-2. As for High Point Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.

Woodruff and Boiling Springs will round out the year against one another at at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Woodruff is facing Boiling Springs at the right time seeing as Boiling Springs is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for High Point Academy, they will face off against Spartanburg Christian Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Monday.
