Baseball Game Preview: Waskom Wildcats vs. Overton Mustangs

The Waskom Wildcats will take on the Overton Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Waskom is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.

It was a proper cat-fight when Waskom duked it out with Beckville on Friday. Waskom fell just short of Beckville by a score of 7-6.

Nate Espy made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Waskom's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, Overton suffered their biggest defeat since March 1st on Friday. They lost 13-1 to Harleton. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Overton's loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Waskom, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

Waskom took their victory against Overton in their previous meeting back in March of 2020 by a conclusive 10-3. Will Waskom repeat their success, or does Overton has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
