Basketball Recap: Amherst Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Brynndon Bradley and Gavin Davis

Amherst has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 49-43 heartbreaker at the hands of the Wood River Eagles. The Broncos were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Amherst's loss on Tuesday came despite strong showings from Gavin Davis and Brynndon Bradley. Davis dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards, while Bradley went 5 of 9 on his way to 13 points. The dominant performance also gave Bradley a new career-high in assists (four).

Amherst's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Wood River, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

Amherst will venture away from home to challenge Ansley/Litchfield at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Ansley/Litchfield has won three straight at home, while Amherst won eight straight on the road dating back to last season), something that'll have to change. As for Wood River, they will venture away from home to take on Arcadia/Loup City at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
