After a string of four wins, the Forsyth Panthers's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell to Sparta 42-36. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Forsyth has scored all season.
Sparta got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jacob Lafferty out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 17 rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Lafferty has scored at least 25% of Sparta's points. Leeanthoney Mayes was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Forsyth's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-2. As for Sparta, their win was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0.
Forsyth has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Lexington at 4:15 p.m. on December 22nd. Lexington knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Forsyth likes a good challenge. Sparta will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Lafayette County at 4:15 p.m. on December 21st. Lafayette County has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 627 points over their last nine games.
