Leland has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the West Tallahatchie Choctaws at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
Last Tuesday, Leland ended up a good deal behind South Delta and lost 58-39. Leland has struggled against South Delta recently, as their game on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, West Tallahatchie entered their tilt with Simmons with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. West Tallahatchie came out on top against Simmons by a score of 58-47 on Wednesday. West Tallahatchie pushed the score to 42-22 by the end of the third, a deficit Simmons cut but never quite recovered from.
Among those leading the charge was Drexel Miller, who scored 20 points. Roosevelt Phillips was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Leland's defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-16. As for West Tallahatchie, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.
Leland opened the new year with a less-than-successful 51-43 loss to West Tallahatchie. Can Leland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
