Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Pleasant Tigers vs. Loretto Mustangs

Mt. Pleasant is 0-8 against Loretto since February of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Mt. Pleasant Tigers will square off against the Loretto Mustangs at 6:00 p.m.

Mt. Pleasant is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 38-32 heartbreaker at the hands of Battle Creek.

Ashley Turner put forth a good effort for the losing side as she posted 18 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Sadie Sandrell, who put up five points and 12 boards.

Even though they lost, Mt. Pleasant smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Loretto came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They really took it to the Panthers for the full four quarters, racking up a 55-20 victory. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Loretto pushed their record up to 15-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Mt. Pleasant, their loss dropped their record down to 3-17.

Mt. Pleasant was dealt a bruising 68-9 defeat at the hands of Loretto when the teams last played on January 14th. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Mt. Pleasant was down 52-5.
