The Desert Ridge Jaguars entered their tilt with the Corona del Sol Aztecs with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Desert Ridge came out on top in a nail-biter against Corona del Sol on Monday and snuck past 60-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Kaycee Steinke continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 32 points along with six assists and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Desert Ridge's points. Saige Miller was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Corona del Sol lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Penelope Williams, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliya Van Heel, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Desert Ridge has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season. As for Corona del Sol, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-20.
