John F. Kennedy Catholic unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak. They fell 55-45 to Rootstown. John F. Kennedy Catholic has not had much luck with Rootstown recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Despite their defeat, John F. Kennedy Catholic saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ava Darney, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and six steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Didi Ryan, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Mogadore fought the good fight in their overtime match against Western Reserve on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 39-38 to the Blue Devils. Mogadore's loss continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Mogadore's defeat came about despite a quality game from Amelia Morris, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Ari Tompkins was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
John F. Kennedy Catholic's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-3. Mogadore's record is now 5-7.
John F. Kennedy Catholic beat Mogadore 59-50 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for John F. Kennedy Catholic since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
