Basketball Game Preview: Cherokee Braves vs. Winston Salem Christian National Lions

The Cherokee Braves will face off against the Winston Salem Christian National Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Winston Salem Christian National will be up against a hot Cherokee team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Cherokee took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging an 84-42 victory over Hiwassee Dam. With the Braves ahead 67-18 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Whitney Rogers was her usual excellent self, going 10 for 15 on her way to 22 points and six assists. The matchup was her third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Rogers, who went 6 of 10 en route to 14 points.

Meanwhile, Winston Salem Christian National is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Virginia Academy. Winston Salem Christian National was the clear victor by a 69-49 margin over Virginia Academy. 69 seems to be a good number for the Lions as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Cherokee pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.7 points per game. As for Winston Salem Christian National, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season.
