The Whitman Vikings came tearing into Thursday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past Churchill 59-56. That's two games straight that Whitman has won by exactly three points.
Sean Curran was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 19 rebounds. Those 15 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Evan Brown, who scored 13 points.
Whitman's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.0 points per game. As for Churchill, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Whitman is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Milford Mill Academy at 5:00 p.m. on December 26th. Milford Mill Academy is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. Churchill will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bethesda-Chevy Chase at 5:30 p.m. on January 8, 2024.
